Chapter One: "You Shall Love the Lord Your God with All Your Heart, and with All Your Soul, and with All Your Mind"
2083耶稣用这句话总结人对神的责任：「你要尽心、尽性、尽意爱主你的神。」太22:37；参路10:27：「尽力。」这立刻呼应那庄严的呼召：「以色列啊，你要听！耶和华我们神是独一的主。」申6:4。神先爱了我们。对独一之神的爱，在「十句话」的第一句话里被提醒。随后，诫命把人被召要向神作出的爱之回应具体展开。
2083Jesus summed up man’s duties toward God in this saying: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.”Mt 22:37; cf. Lk 10:27: “… and with all your strength.” This immediately echoes the solemn call: “Hear, O Israel: the LORD our God is one LORD.”Deut 6:4. God has loved us first. The love of the One God is recalled in the first of the “ten words.” The commandments then make explicit the response of love that man is called to give to his God.
